Melaku Dereje (PhD)

Dr. Melaku Dereje Mamo is a Senior researcher and Director of the Materials Science and Engineering Directorate at the Bio & Emerging Technology Institute in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He obtained his Ph.D. in Energy and Materials Engineering from Dongguk University, Seoul, South Korea in 2019. Prior to his doctoral studies, he taught Chemistry (Organic Chemistry) at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) and Samara University. His research interests include semiconductor materials and their processing, thin film formation and characterization, surface modification, patterning, photolithography, OFETs and Nanofabrication technologies. He is currently working on developing novel materials such as emerging 2D materials and heterostructures for optoelectronic devices and their tuning. He is also involved in the development of new composite materials, minerals extraction and beneficiation technologies, and Biomass conversion for energy storage and other applications.
